If you have sensitive skin your skin is actually easily stimulated from the environment, especially outdoors. A skin that has become sensitive shares specific characteristics such as your skin gets really flaky, also it gets really dry and also you can really feel that tightness around you. On top of that because of the dryness and flakiness, your skin is really rough and your skin easily experiences redness, rashes, and acne. These are the most typical symptoms. People with sensitive skin tend to have a thinner skin barrier, allowing the ingredients in skincare products to sting or burn. Don’t overload sensitive skin with harsh ingredients—stick with gentle, hypoallergenic products formulated for sensitive skin. An unbalanced skin is going to be sensitive – means that your skin is not functioning properly. When it’s not functioning properly your skin barrier which is the function of your skin is to act as a barrier to entry of other things to come into the body and if this level of your skin is not functioning properly it’s going to be more reactive to environmental factors which could be sun, heat, it could be pollution and skincare products that are not well formulated and can cause a reaction on your skin. Sometimes even balanced skin can react to poorly formulated skincare products. The most common types of sensitive skin include: 1. Photodermatoses is an abnormal skin reaction to sunlight. You step into the sun without a hat or sunscreen, and the next thing you know, you’re flushed and beet-red. Photosensitivity can cause a skin rash on the face, outer arms, and chest. The ultraviolet (UV) rays in sunlight can trigger your immune system, causing you to develop a rash, blisters, or scaly patches of skin. 2. Skin becomes dry when it loses too much water and oil. This can cause your skin to itch, scale or flake, peel, feel rough to the touch, crack and bleed, appear red or ashy-looking. Dry skin can happen anywhere on your body, but it’s particularly common on the: hands, feet, arms, lower legs. You can treat dry skin by returning moisture to the affected areas. Applying a moisturizing cream or ointment two to three times per day will help restore moisture and prevent your skin from drying out in the future.
